Nothing insane, I thought, I’d go around a lake a few times. See what I could find for fun to do. Something that is really clue is canoes are available to rent, or take in different spots throughout the Northern woods.

Doubletop Mountain located in Piscataquis County, Maine, part of Baxter State Park is a hikers dream.
This is not for an amateur climbers idea of a fun time. The extremely high elevation of 3,498 Feet — Doubletop is all rough terrain — that gradually becomes more difficult as you climb. It is classified as a very strenuous trail that can only be finished by scaling huge boulders.
Once again, like Mt. Katahdin, watch out for windy conditions, and the brutal cold because the weather can change immediately. The other issue is that the two peaks are not very wide, as you see in the pictures below — creating a dangerous platform — with views that can compete with any other mountain in Maine.
Estimated time is about 6 hours to the top and back down with times varying depending on your speed.
